“25-11-24” (Three Dancing Figures), woodcut/monotype, unique print, 40 x 40 cm

The work is strongly divided into two main zones: The Upper Zone (Blue/Black) evokes the night sky or perhaps a storm. The broad monotype strokes (the background) are dark and heavy, giving an impression of mass or pressure. The Lower Zone (Red/Orange) is dominated by stylized flame forms, executed with finer, more vibrant engraving lines, with the idea of creating a sensation of lightness and ascension.
The stylized red flame lines embody the movement of the dance. One can easily perceive three distinct entities (one on the left, one in the center, one on the right) that intertwine and perhaps move to the rhythm of the fire.
The dance of the flames can be seen as a primal celebration, a ritual, or a representation of the life force. The powerful contrast with the dark area above could suggest a struggle or balance between order and chaos.
